School Year 2015-2016

This school year was very fun and interesting. I have learned a lot! It was very nice to enjoy it. I have learned many things about the world and many things about some issues. Thus, I learned about the multiculturalism, global challenges, social media, English as a language and more. I have also learned a lot on the student's presentations. I really enjoyed making presentations and talk about them. Also, I have enjoyed making the blog and writing on it. I did not enjoy much writing long essays. It was quite time-consuming. The English book was very interesting. Check out on this page how the school year looks like.

Sometimes finding specific information can be hard. I have tested myself here. The test has 10 slides and test your finding skills. The test is not so difficult. Most of the things were easy to find for me. Some things took more time but not so much.

Global Challenges- Food Security and Agriculture

Today we have enough food in our areas around us. We do not worry about it because we have provided access to food. But how it will be in about 35 years? It will change a lot! With the population about 9 billion people we will face many challenges and issues about food security and agriculture. In my presentation you can see and read more about the issues and consequences that will occur in the future in this case. Also, you will find there some projects and ideas about how to prevent them.

I think it is a great idea about it and it may help us a lot. What do you think?

Human Rights

Human Rights

Human rights might be one of the most important things in the world. Without them we will not be able to live in peace and harmony with each other. Human rights belong to every person, whatever, language, race, sex, religion, origin or political beliefs. Humans are receiving more rights during the time in every part of the world. However, there are many places that the lack of human rights is still present, for example, Syria, Iraq, Congo, China, North Korea and many more. In the following essay I am going to write about three world´s issues, such as, right to freedom and education and human trafficking.



First picture shows people marching about the freedom rights of thought, conscience and religion. They are fighting for Snowden´s freedom. The picture shows how the freedom of speech is important. Freedom of speech is a right to express your own opinion and views. Every person should have a  right to speak and think about what she or he wants to. However, some countries do not follow it and they are making the nation´s freedom less than it should be. Importance of freedom of speech is that it allows spreading the truth about something. Also, the free society is more dynamic than a closed one, by this the nation becomes both stronger economically and in value. Moreover, the free country is developed. Almost one-third of the world´s population, 2,6 billion people live in the places where repressions and corruption occurs and human rights are violated everyday. The worst situation is in Syria, Tibet and Somalia- according to the report of Freedom House. However, a bad situation in countries, such as United Arab Emirates, has surprised me. They have scored only 20 points and have been declared as a not free nation. The thing that has astonished me was that why in such a modernistic country with futuristic cities, the situation is worse than in Congo (25 points) or Algeria (35 points). It is very weird that in the Emirates, flogging and stoning is legal as a punishment or apostasy (abandoning of religion by a person) is a crime punishable by death. The message of the first photo is quite good to show how strong people are to fight for themselves and freedom. It shows that everyone should be able to speak, think and leave without any fear of her/his life. Moreover, the picture shows that by the determination of people, they can reach everything. It also shows that we should never give up and be afraid to reach the target.

The picture conveys the message quite effectively because it shows that by fighting we can reach something that we want and need. As I wrote above it shows that we should never give up and be afraid to reach the target.




Second picture shows the children begging for the right for education at schools. The pictures may show the daily situation at school in Africa or Asia. By the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (article 26) everyone has a right to get education, but more than 72 million children are not in school and 759 million adults are illiterate, despite that the access to education is better than before. (“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights | United Nations,” n.d., para. 26) (“Right to Education : Situation around the world | Humanium – Together for Children’s Rights,” n.d.)The worst situation is in Somalia where only 10% of children are going to primary school. Eritrea, Haiti, Comoros and Ethiopia are next countries with bad education situation. (Shepherd & correspondent, 2010) The right to education is very important. The main reason of it is that education is the key to our future. In addition, by education we get the knowledge that we need and we develop our skills. The education has an effect on our whole life. It affects on who we will be in the future.  Moreover, without any of education, children in the poorest countries in the world may not have such a good life in the future. They will be more exposed to poverty, hunger. Also, they will not have chance to study and then get a better life somewhere else. Nonetheless, the worst result of the lack of education is human trafficking.

The message of the pictures is strong because it shows us the children in help. The children are showing one of the darkest side of living in their homeland. They are showing that everyone has a right to education and should get it.

The picture conveys the message very effectively because it shows the desire of the children to get the education. It shows us theirs demand for education and better live afterwards. It may also try to create a sense of repentance.




Third picture shows the human trafficking. People trafficking is one of the cruelest human rights violations. It is the trade of humans (sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation). It is so bad that it still occurs in some parts of the world mostly in Africa and Asia, for example in Ghana, Bangladesh, China or India. (“Top 10 Countries Infamous for Human Trafficking,” 2013) Although, it can also occur in Europe in countries like Albania, Bulgaria, Romania or Macedonia or even in Scandinavia. (“Human trafficking in Europe,” 2015) Every person has a right to live in peace, freedom and safety. Still, a lot of people may feel fear even if the declaration of human rights is saying that they can live freely without fear. Many women in countries, such as  the aforementioned ,are sexually abused or sent abroad to work. Also, children become domestic servants. How can people do such a cruel thing for money or own satisfaction. Losing of human rights is atrocious. They are treated like a commodity. How they can feel in situation like that? The main reasons of human trafficking are poverty, unemployment, lack of education and discrimination. (“Human trafficking,” 2016)

Third picture shows the situation which happens mostly in Africa and Asia. It shows one of the worst human rights violations. The message of this picture is to show the people's fear and helplessness that can they experience every day in their home country. It shows that human trafficking is still present these days and that we should not close our eyes in this case.

The picture conveys the message very effective because it shows us the feeling of people that live in fear of human trafficking or may have experienced that. It shows the real world of people who are treated like that, and their pain about this case that many people can live peacefully and they do not.

Unfortunately, in our times, violations and non-compliance of human rights occur in different regions of the world. The problem on the national scale was, is and will be. The fact is that compliance or non-compliance of human rights is not only a purely internal issue of the one country but it is a problem of the whole world.

Tasks 1a, 2+ and 4+ page 337

1a.

This poem is about migrant that does not know where she comes from, what nationality she has and has no place to go. The issue of the story is a journey of a lost person so the theme is unknown journey.

Poem page 336- The Migrant

The title:
The migrant has not been mentioned in the story but it seems like she is it.

The speaker/voice in the poem:
The poet is herself and the voice is neautral (the narrator is telling what happens)

What is going on in the poem?
It is telling a story of the girl but also sharing the feelings.

Diction:

"Embaring Passangers Only- she´s going on a journey again"

    They are helping me to create images of the story. F.ex. the

The poem is written in seven stanzas. There is no breaks in the poem

It is because ther eis no ryhtmes and the sentences have different forms, some are long and some are short.

a) 
"The Migrant"



My name is Maria. I have been travelling on boat from nowhere for last ten days. I have never remembered where I was born, where I came from and where I belonged to. I did not know how I get on the boat or if someone helped me. I had a feeling like a lightheadedness. It might have been an amnesia. The only thing I knew was that I was on a voyage from south.

I was very young, but old enough for such a challenge. Without recollection I did not know what to do. One day I came to the beautiful island called Jamaica. I have met there a very friendly local couple. They were young and crazy. They have made a very nice welcome to me.

This day I believed that I was home. Beautiful beaches and palms. The place with love and happiness. But then I realized that it was not it and I was just in transit. I did not what really happened there. If it was some kind of conspiracy or I have been kidnapped. However, it could not be some kind of these things because I was alone on this journey. Later I began to remind something about the promise land. Then, I knew that I have to continue my trip.

I wanted to postpone my departure but I had a feeling that I had to travel further. In the port I stared to read travel brochures and think about all these challenges that I will face there. I went forward to the entrance for passengers. I was fearful and lonely. Afterwards I said goodbye to the coast of Jamaica and arrived to the coast of Florida.

I knew that I was already where I was supposed to be. A few days later I received a letter from my mother in which she explained me everything and then I realized where I came from. It was not written in the letter but only one small detail gave me a hint. It was a post stamp from Venezuela.
